Superposition. Jinny Yu
Curators: ART/AROUND in collaboration with Georgiana Uhlyarik
Inspired by conversations with quantum physicist Shohini Ghose, the title of this exhibition connects Jinny Yu’s latest exploration into painting, abstraction, and the complexities of belonging with the concept of superposition, hypothesising co-existence in multiple states. This principle resonates with the dynamic relationship she explores in her work between guest and host, challenging fixed states.
Yu studied with some of the most reputable artists at Concordia University, including Guido Molinari, whose teaching informed her sensibilities, formal explorations, and modes of production.
Now an internationally renowned artist, Yu presents an exhibition at FGM that brings together key works from the past decade of her practice. Among them is her latest series, Inextricably Ours (2022-ongoing), recently featured in her solo exhibition At Once, at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
