Nincheri. From the Secular to the Sacred
The museum offers a visit or re-visit of the largest heritage of the artist’s secular artwork located in Château Dufresne by way of a new digital tour, ‘Guido Nincheri at Château Dufresne’. Frescoes and stained-glass windows created by this Florentine artist are the major attractions of this ancient mansion, now a museum. The only sketches preserved to this day that were done by the artist for the Château’s decorative projects are also proposed.
When it comes to religious art, Guido Nincheri is one of the most influential Canadian artists of his time. A unique selection of some 40 drawings, sketches, overlays, watercolours, as well as objects and archival documents highlight his exceptional contributions to religious art in the context of a temporary exhibit in the Château’s garden level. In addition to allowing us to appreciate his distinctive artistic approach, the exhibition includes a video, ‘The Nincheri Studio Adventure’, which recounts the prolific production of his order book.
